Challenge Accepted!
Can you complete a challenge a day to get all of the activities ticked off?
Challenge 1
Go for a walk for 30 minutes with your family.
Challenge 2
Movement Chain:
You need at least 2 players. The first person starts by performing a certain movement – something simple jumping 2 times, or harder plank for 30 seconds. The next person has to perform the first movement, and then add on another, forming a chain. The following person does the previous 2 movements, plus adds their own. Continue until the chain sequence is broken (usually forgotten!) and then that person is out.
Challenge 3
Do a wheelbarrow lap, a crab lap, and a bear walk lap around your garden
(3 laps total)
Challenge 4
Freeze dance: Get your Mam or Dad to be the DJ. When the music stops, freeze in your pose and hold it until the music begins again.
Challenge 5
How many keepy ups can you get in one go? Can you beat your best score?
Challenge 6
Outdoor bowling: Fill up water bottles and use any ball you have. Mark a distance 10 steps from the bottles
Make sure the tops are on tight!!!
Challenge 7
Popcorn push-ups: Put a small bowl of popcorn on the floor. Lower yourself down and stick out your tongue to get a piece of popcorn with each push. Breakfast cereal will do too.
Challenge 8
Blindfold:
Carry out a drawing blindfolded. You will need a parent or siblings help to describe the picture to you. You will be blind folded and have to draw the picture as they describe it to you.
Challenge 9
Penguin Waddle:
Place a balloon/football between your knees and waddle across the room or garden without dropping it. Make it more challenging for older kids by having them go around a few obstacles. If they drop it, they have to go back to the start.
Challenge 10
Teddy Transport:
You will need 2 teams of 2 players. Set up 2 bundles of 10 teddies in one room (e.g. hall, kitchen, garden). The aim of the game is to move the teddies using dessert spoons to the couch. You can’t touch the teddies with your hands and if you drop it you have to go back to the start. First team to transfer their teddies successfully wins.
Challenge 11
Croquet:
Get a small ball and a bat, make your own croquet course using toilet paper rolls. (Works best on tarmac or concrete) Write active tasks on each “tunnel” that need to be completed once your ball makes it through like “do 15 jumping jacks as fast as you can”, “Do 10 high knees” or “Do 5 push ups”
Challenge 12
Skip for 5 minutes 3 times in a day.
Challenge 13
Potato Drop:
All participants have a pile of 5 or so potatoes. Place a potato between their knees one at a time and race to a finish line where they have to drop it into a designated bowl or bucket. If the potato is dropped, or if hands touch it, they have to go back to the start and try again. Can be done in teams too.
Challenge 14
Outdoor Target Practice:
Set up some targets (Water bottles, empty cans or paper towel rolls work great) and have your kids try and knock them down with a hurl and sliotar (If you don’t have either just throw a ball to knock them).
Go for a walk for 30 minutes with your family.
